Official Visit and Discussions between Sirte University and Amman Arab University in Jordan
On Saturday, Dr. Mohammed Alwadyan, the President of Amman Arab University, welcomed Dr. Sulayman Alshater, the President of Sirte University, to his office. The meeting was attended by Dr. Ahmed Aldweik, the Cultural Attaché at the Libyan Embassy, and Dr. Altayeb Algubi, the Director of the International Cooperation Office at Sirte University. Also present were Professor Jalal Alalam from Amman Arab University, Dr. Ikhlass Altarawneh, the Deputy Vice President for Academic Affairs, Dr. Hussam Alhamad, the Assistant to the President for Planning and Quality Assurance, Dr. Malik Alsarhan, the Director of the International Office and External Relations, Dr. Mohammed Nasar, the Director of the Marketing Department, and Mr. Anas Kasu from the Media and Public Relations Department.
The discussions during the meeting focused on strategies to enhance collaboration between Amman Arab University and Sirte University. Dr. Alwadyan took the opportunity to present the stages of Amman Arab University’s establishment, which can be traced back to 1997 when it was founded as a privately funded, nonprofit institution specializing in postgraduate studies. The university commenced its teaching activities in 1999 under the name "Amman Arab University for Graduate Studies," becoming the first Jordanian university dedicated to master’s and doctoral programs. However, in 2009, the university expanded its scope to include undergraduate programs and adopted the name Amman Arab University.
Dr. Alwadyan underscored the recent inclusion of the university in the Jordanian national qualifications framework as evidence of its educational program excellence and emphasis on practical and research-oriented aspects. He emphasized the university’s ambitious plan to establish itself as a top-tier institution on local, regional, and international scales through exceptional performance across all academic domains. Dr. Alwadyan highlighted the university’s notable progress in various global rankings, which he attributed to the collective efforts of its entire staff.
