In a landmark ceremony on June 10th, 2024, Sirte University and El Oued University in Algeria solidified their commitment to collaboration through a formal twinning agreement. Professor Sulayman Alshatir, President of Sirte University, and Professor Omar Farhati, Director of El Oued University, signed the protocol, witnessed by prominent figures from both institutions.
This comprehensive agreement paves the way for a wide range of joint initiatives, including student exchanges at undergraduate and postgraduate levels, collaborative research projects, and academic partnerships. This significant step aligns with the 5+5 Dialogue framework, fostering regional cooperation among Mediterranean countries. Discussions during the signing ceremony explored the potential for five Libyan universities, including Sirte University, to join this important initiative.
Prof. Alshatir presented Prof. Farhati with a commemorative shield and a certificate of appreciation, while Prof. Farhati reciprocated with a shield and a memento for Sirte University. This momentous occasion marks a significant milestone in strengthening academic ties between Libya and Algeria, promoting knowledge exchange and regional collaboration in higher education.
