The President of Sirte University, Dr. Sulayman Al-Shatir, has affirmed that the university and its various branches are fully prepared to accommodate male and female students for the upcoming academic year 2023-2024, commencing on 10 September.

In an interview with the Libyan News Agency (LANA 05/09/2023), Dr. Al-Shatir disclosed that 8,000 students would be admitted across 14 faculties, extending from the Faculty of Energy and Mining in Maradah area to the Faculty of Arts and Sciences in Wadi Zamzam. Moreover, he emphasized that ongoing efforts are currently underway to renew student registration in different faculties and enroll 1,000 new students.
Notably, over the past two academic years, the university administration has established 48 specialized scientific departments for postgraduate studies within all faculties of the institution. These departments were established with the authorization of the Ministry of Higher Education, Other departments were agreed upon with other Libyan universities through chapters within those universities, with the aim of preparing new and specialized scientific cadres.. The President of Sirte University expressed his satisfaction with the recent disbursement of salaries for 600 university employees, including ten faculty members, 199 teaching assistants across various faculties and departments, and nearly 400 new staff members. He further revealed that the salary disbursement would be completed once the necessary administrative procedures are finalized.
Furthermore, the President highlighted ongoing projects at Sirte University, such as the renovation and modification of administrative buildings at the Faculty of Agriculture, alongside numerous other service facilities affiliated with the faculty. He also mentioned that the university has obtained approval to construct an auditorium at the Faculty of Medicine and resume the implementation of auditorium projects that had been suspended for a period of approximately 13 years.
