On Sunday, February 4, 2023, a meeting was convened, led by the university's Vice President for Academic Affairs, with the purpose of establishing a weather station at Sirte University.

The primary objective behind the establishment of this station is to offer practical training opportunities for students in the Geography Department, as well as students of the faculties of Agriculture and Engineering. Moreover, the station will facilitate weather monitoring operations within the university. The meeting was attended by the Director of the metrological Station in Sirte City, along with the Deans of the Faculties of Engineering, Agriculture, and Literature. Additionally, the Head of the Geography Department and a number of professors were also present.
